Cocoa Bothy at The Steeple

A tiny chocolate shop inside one of Inverness’s most iconic landmarks.

Cocoa Bothy at The Steeple opens on Saturday 27 June at 11am, bringing handmade Highland chocolate to the river end of Inverness High Street.

You’ll find us inside the historic Inverness Town Steeple, at 2 Bridge Street, just opposite Castle Wynd and a short stroll from Inverness Castle, the Victorian Market and the River Ness.

This is Cocoa Bothy’s first little shop, and little really is the word. The space may be small, but the feeling is rich, dramatic and full of chocolate.

A little chocolate shop, steeped in history

Inside, Cocoa Bothy at The Steeple has been designed to feel like a tiny bookshop chocolatier: navy walls, dark wood, warm lighting, navy tartan backdrops, cabinet displays and a historic preloved chandelier overhead.

There’s a Bothy Bar Library, subtle gold signage showcasing feature products, and a little suggestion box where visitors can leave ideas for future chocolate flavours.

Across the walls, you’ll also find key dates from the story of Inverness and The Steeple, sitting under the phrase:

Steeped in history

It is part chocolate shop, part Highland hideaway, part little moment of escapism in the middle of the city.

There will also be a seasonal Hall of Fame bar, available exclusively in store. This will be chosen from our confession booth suggestions and brought to life - giving returning visitors something new to discover.

Visiting the shop

Cocoa Bothy at The Steeple is open:

Friday and Saturday
11am to 3pm

The shop is card only.

As the space is tiny, we welcome two customers at a time. During peak periods, there will be an orderly queue outside with navy ropes and gold stanchions, because even queuing deserves a little drama.

Online Sunday drops will continue as usual. At first, online orders will remain postal only, with no collection from the shop.

A new chapter for Cocoa Bothy

Cocoa Bothy began online, built through limited weekly drops, seasonal collections and a lot of chocolate-loving chaos.

The Steeple shop is the next chapter.

It is a chance to breathe new life into a building so many people pass every day, but few have stepped inside in recent years. The space was once a well-loved jeweller’s, and we loved the idea of bringing that same sense of sparkle, discovery and joy back through the door.

Now, instead of jewellery, the cabinets are filled with handmade chocolate.

Still precious. Just slightly more edible.
